As the OP, I can confirm that the check-in at the LH F desk in MUC worked fine and they even through-checked my bags to SFO with AA from CDG.
However, nothing arrived in SFO for a further 2 days and it appears LH did not pass the bags to AA in CDG (or so AA says).
On the return, I had an issue as well. AA would not through-check my 2 bags, despite confirming they could interlin to LH in CDG, because my ETicket only stated 1 bag and AA were afraid of being charged by LH.
I had to retrieve my luggage at CDG and re-check it with LH there. All because my LH ETicket contained the incorrect luggage allowance.
By the way, LH staff in Paris are really pi$$ed off. They are all wearing badges saying "Fired", and "No better way to ... get fired" . Apparently, ground service is being outsourced and they are not happy.
