What is most likely is that someone who had been assigned A44 cancelled prior to your checkin, that position opened up, and was given to you. If that hadn't happened, you would likely have received B25 + B26, give or take a few positions. This is assuming that neither of you has A-List or purchased EBCI.

If you'd like to board together, officially you're supposed to board with the B25 number. But my advice would be to board individually and simply save a seat for your wife.
