And yes, you SDC by choosing the "Change" link after clicking the Check In button. It's rather hard to find and not obvious that what you are doing is actually SDC.
Fwiw, I did make it on an earlier flight, but by SDS as usual as real SDC was not available (including the JetBlue and Southwest flights
).
So I tried just that since I have a flight tomorrow. I am offered "confirmed" options to leave today instead. A price tag associated with that option shows up though. I'm basically asked $200 change fee plus difference in fare. However, I'm also offered options for tomorrow (within the SDC window), and they're free of charge ! That's a great function!
