I wish more FAs would do as in the OP's post. If they would "counsel" people during the boarding process, not only would boarding proceed more quickly (because people wouldn't be looking for available OH bin space) but pax would be happier because they wouldn't have to check bags.

I have rearranged people's stuff before - most frequently when they place a bag sideways that should clearly be wheels in.
