It is the case, and has been for the past few years...but, Amex has had some glitches in their welcome bonuses and referrals as of late, beginning around Sept through mid-Nov with the AeroPlus Gold cards, and then the Gold MR, Biz Gold MR and Platinum card, as reported inconsistently up until even recently...read back a few pages, and you'll see there have been several people, myself include who have had problems with 'delayed' points posting.
