But if you've flown them both you know the 772 has less personal space. It's a narrower cabin and they had to make that space up somehow. So even if the seat cushion is the same width, the seating area is not.
Also, the odds are significantly better that you will get an aisle seat on the 744: 30/52 vs. 20/40.
