Does BGO have a nice enough lounge to make surprising my parents with an upgrade worthwhile? They already have the CE style row behind the curtain so no gain there and TPs are not an issue though the bonus avios would be nice.

Last time I was in BGO there was no lounge. While I'd like to think that has changed... I doubt it! SVG has no lounge either - it's a rather Norwegian thing.
