Hmm I thought there was some rule about not denying boarding to full fare customers, but upon examining the rule at
http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelin...a_section6.pdf on page AC-32-A, it seems that it's based on who does not have a seat assignment.
I find it hard to believe they'd advertise a perk of being able to book a Y fare even if it's oversold, sell you the Y fare, and then deny you boarding (S100K or E75K on a Y fare), but according to that document, they might, if you don't have a seat.
They board in this order:
(2) In the event there are not enough volunteers, other passengers may be involuntarily denied boarding in accordance with AC's boarding priority policy. Passengers with confirmed reservations who have not received a boarding pass, will be permitted to board in the following order until all available seats are occupied:
(a) Passengers with disabilities; unaccompanied children under 12 years of age and others for whom, in AC's assessment, failure to carry would cause severe hardship.
(b) Passengers paying Executive (J cabin) or Premium Economy (O cabin).
(c) All other passengers, based on itinerary, fares paid, status of loyalty program membership and time in which the passenger presents herself/himself for check in without advance seat assignment.
So if you are a Super Elite on a Y fare, and the only person without a seat assignment, good luck
But it also seems like they might choose to IDB someone flying YOW-YYZ rather than someone flying YOW-YYZ-HKG, which is sensible.
