I'm taking my first BA flight from LHR in 18 months, and I'm happy to see how the Concorde Room has improved.

Last time I was here I had eggs Benedict not cooked how I'd asked, and served in a pool of nasty looking cooking water - followed by no refills of coffee.

Today I was welcomed with a genuine smile and nothing has been too much trouble - I have been kept topped up outside on the terrace.

The menu needs some work - the smoked salmon is nice, but there's nothing really First Class - a beef burger is a beef burger is a beef burger. I caved and carb loaded with Mac'n'cheese, which arrived quickly and was very good. However it needs premiumising - add truffle / lobster? (The food in the Sydney First Lounge is very good - quirky but fresh and very good quality)

I nipped downstairs to get a magazine - to be reminded that it's really a wonderful haven of quiet up here.

Well done to the staff and managers for turning around (if you believe half the nonsense on here) an unhappy and disfunctional place to work.
