Do you seriously believe non of the Rogue routes were profitable!! If that was the case AC would have dropped some (if not all) of them long ago.
It's not that they were losing money - its that AC thinks (maybe correctly) that it can make MORE money on these routes with a high density / low cost set-up.
Frankly that can probably be said of the majority of routes AC flies - which is why AC will continue to try and grow Rouge. The initial 30 narrowbodies will only be the beginning IMO in terms of North American Rogue flying.
The initial claim that Rogue was only for leisure routes has been proven by these West coast announcements to be disingenuous (anyone surprised?). The next labour negotiations will once again be interesting now that the plan has been clearly laid out.
