It never has looked good really. It's right in the corner of a reasonably sparsely populated area of the county with sea on 3 sides, and huge London airports like Gatwick within relatively easy reach.
A shame really as it's such a nice airport (you could literally go from the front door to the boarding gate in 30 seconds!).
