It is a better deal if you live in Seattle or near the border (and therefore can do a day trip).
If you don't live near the border (or Seattle) and aren't getting up there in the near future (and won't get a benefit from the Canada entry portion of NEXUS), then Global Entry is easier/cheaper (not having to fly up).
Note that this all assumes you have a passport, if you don't, then the new PreCheck membership is the best option, which I would believe gives you the same entry to PreCheck as Global Entry/NEXUS/SENTRI.
The memberships do give you a better rate than if you rely on the free invitation from airlines for PreCheck.
