I've stayed at the Hyatt Regency and didn't see anything wrong with it. But I don't see anything wrong with the location of the Hyatt Place, either. You can find the red line stations very easily on Google maps. In the downtown area, the red line runs underneath State St. From the Regency, the nearest red line station would be Lake St. station.

I wouldn't recommend trying to find something to eat by Wrigley, there are much better options downtown. After the games, you can walk a couple of blocks north of Wrigley to the Sheridan station, as an alternative to the post-game crowds at the Addison station. Of course, the cars will fill up as soon as you get to Addison.

If you do stay at the Regency and are not diamond, I recommend Wildberry Pancakes & Café for breakfast, located a couple of blocks behind the hotel and right across from Millennium Park (which I also highly recommend checking out).
