Angry New security procedures at Ben Gurion

Came across this earlier on this week. Don't know if it's a pilot or SOP now.

Luggage scanners not operating. Initial security screening tagged my bag and told me that luggage checks would happen after check-in, and that I should not lock my bag - otherwise it may be forced open if security wants to check the bag. ????????

Right, sure, I'll gladly send my luggage unlocked - I'm sure baggage handlers worldwide would NEVER, EVER help themselves to anything from an unlocked suitcase.

Who is the bright spark who thought up this incredibly stupid idea ?? ex- TSA ?? (why not learn from the very best, ahem)

Ended up using a cable tie to secure the zip - better than nothing.
