Also I would say that connection times will be highly variable. Since you will be clearing both Canada and US customs, I would count on no less than one hour and that would be pushing it unless you have Nexus or an equivalent that will let you zip ahead of most travelers. I have seen very long lines coming into YVR (Canada immigration) when multiple Asian arrivals show up at the same time.
