Not particularly on BA, but I often find I get things from the normal breakfast substituted from my vegetarian breakfast for no apparent reason that I would much prefer. Things like everyone getting served croissants but me getting something like a small tub of pineapple chunks etc (or on one bizarre Etihad flight, a bowl of green beans in tomato sauce!).
I have a similar issue, asking for a Gluten Free meal. The weirdest things get substituted. I've always presumed it's because they do distinguish between Gluten Free (where cross-contamination is important) and Gluten intolerant. Presumably, they change everything to be on the safe side. I've learnt to put GF in the booking when in Y but not in C, where the choice will allow me to find something to eat.
