You'll pay very high surcharges if you redeem BA Avios for MAD-ORD on either AA or IB.
This is my route for family and the surcharges are extremely reasonable if booking with IB avios (IB is the only direct flight). I paid in USD last time and it was around 160 for two passengers.

I wonder what BA is actually charging for in that case?
