I used to fly in J for YYZ-HKG-XXX on business (self funded but can be written off) and Y for personal trip. Ever since the introduction of Flex, I always flew on Tango as the price difference between flex and tango is around $700 and the chance of upgrade is minimal on this route. Now I found out that there is Hainan Airlines flying B787 out of YYZ-PEK-XXX. J costs less than half of that in AC. (e.g., YYZ-PEK-KMG $3900 vs $8100 return all in). It is rated 5 star in Skytrax vs AC's 4. I am going to give it a try.
