I must admit, part of me was a bit tempted still to cram in as much as possible. Although 10-12 days on the ground is not that much, I don't usually get breaks from work longer than a week at a time, I am (relatively) young, and this is my first real redemption... hehe, my first thought when I began planning this trip was hitting as many 23hr 59min cities as possible... glad I tamed it down a little before posting here.

On a more serious note though, I couldn't be more appreciative of this advice. You guys are spot on! Such a short time in Myanmar wouldn't do it justice, I would literally be spending as much time at BKK airport than any destination, and it was just way too rushed to enjoy each country. I have also spent a few summers in China/Japan and know it's brutal, so know the weather cannot be underestimated... I can just imagine how hot and tiring it will be farther south...

That said, I was rethinking the itinerary... and was tempted to sneak Vietnam in the picture (had long been on the destinations list for me). At risk of totally un-earning that thumbs up I was so excited to get... If I could test your patience a little farther, what do you guys think of:

- Fly from HKG into HAN on 7/10 in the evening. Spend 3 full days (7/11, 7/12, 7/13) in HAN enjoying the city... maybe a day trip to Ha Long Bay... (HAN over SGN? I feel like HAN will be a bit more digestable and charming... and arguably better food?)

- HAN to REP on 7/14

- Spend 3 nights in REP (7/14, 7/15, 7/16). Fly out 9PM on 7/17. That should give me three full days to explore Angkor Wat

- Fly REP-BKK night of 7/17. Overnight layover in BKK. BKK-USM on morning of the 18th

- 3.5 days in USM - 7/18 - 7/21. Return to BKK on the evening of the 21st.

- Day in BKK on 22nd before flying out.

So that should give me 3 full days each in HAN, REP, and USM, and my routing would be more direct (HKG-HAN-REP-BKK-USM-BKK in total).

What's the verdict? Am I still over-reaching?

Thanks again!!
