I'm visiting HKG in mid-april for the first time and was thinking of a day trip to Macau, but then I had the thought to visit Macau on my last day, get a hotel, then take the ferry to HKIA for my flight out.
My flight on UA leaves at 11:40am. From reading the HKIA page, I need to arrive at the airport by 9:40am which would mean I'd have to catch the 7:30 ferry (since as far as I can tell, its just 7:30 or 9:30). From reading the ferry website, I should arrive at the terminal between 6:30-7am.
Does the above sound correct logistically? Does this sound like a good idea? or am I better off leaving it as a day trip and come back to HKG? Not quite sure how much time I will want to be in Macau. I'm not really in to casino and was planning to look at the major landmarks and stroll around town.
6.30 am in case the HKIA ferry is late you have time to go back to HK.
On your departure day, you'll not enjoy at all Macau with your early departure ?
So basically it's a day trip with the hassles of checking in & out of your hotel (except if you like to sleep in new hotels or want to party all night in Macau)
If you want to sleep in Macau, I'll suggest to do that upon arrival at HKIA.
I'll make it a day trip. You'll have enough time to have an idea of the city and visit some casinos.
