I did not see this posted, forgive me if I missed it. Effective today, Amtrak defines a child as age 2-12. (Prior to today it was 2-15.)

I have two in the 13-15 range and was able to book an upcoming Capitol Limited trip, with two roomettes, before the policy change.

According to Amtrak's website, "existing reservations made prior to March 24, 2014 will be honored at the current age. Any changes made to existing reservations will be subject to the policy in affect at the time of the change."

I'm sure the conductor is aware of the policy, but I'll keep the webpage saved on my phone....just in case! No way my kids will pass for under 12! (In fact, they may not pass for under 15!)

Kind of a bummer for those of us in with kids, but more in line with the rest of life...and still a discount for those who qualify.
