There is a distinction between membership and access; however, up until very recently AA specfically stated the only card that would grant access is the Citi Exec card.
Would it have changed people's minds to apply for the Executive card if they knew another card would grant access while flying AA? I don't know, but I like the overall benefits of the Prestige card more and the annual fee is the same.
