Personally, that sounds brutal for a domestic itin. We did a 4 hour layover with our 2 year old at CDG, but an international terminal has more going on.

JFK is just a bit further than I'd like to go to connect from Florida. Have you looked at RSW-CLT-PDX on US or through ATL on DL?
