If UA were to start offering op-ups for people getting married, on honeymoon, engaged, having a difficult day,... might as well just stop selling biz class ticket and upgrade half the plane.
You forgot to mention all those claiming any of the above as well, even thou it wasnt true. OP not saying you arent getting married, just that many folks used that as a means to try and geta free UP when either they werent married at all or had been for years.
Likewise with their hotel res as well, where almost everyone checking in says they are celebrating something or other, in hopes to get a suite or great view
