Agree. Especially on routes to and from LHR. OP can always get a miles +copay or cash only upgrade if he doesn't want to pay for a C ticket.

If UA were to start offering op-ups for people getting married, on honeymoon, engaged, having a difficult day,... might as well just stop selling biz class ticket and upgrade half the plane.
