Upgrading is absolutely worth it on a long flight, especially on the 77W. You will enjoy more room, a seat that turns into a bed for good sleeping, better meals, short lavatory lines (if any), aisle access, priority security line access, lounge access, etc.

I once upgraded using miles and copay on LHR-DFW 77W flight and loved the experience.
