Lots of people have commented on the lack of reward availability to and from the the US. Theories include the 'Delta Factor', in that there are a lot more people after a small number of seats.

On the plus side (which doesn't help you one jot) eastbound rewards, such as DXB, Tokyo and even Hong Kong seem to be easier to get right now.
