Refusal to refund Avios
I have just had to change the date of travel of the fourth sector of a 4-part ticket that was TLV-LHR-JFK-LHR-TLV. The ticket was booked in I class, but, for my original date of travel for the final sector, I had an Avios upgrade into First (this being in May after the restoration of a four-class 777 on the TLV route).
I'm having to change my date to one when there is currently no Avios availability in First. To my bewilderment, BA are saying that they will not refund the Avios for the upgrade. I cannot believe this is correct. (FWIW I'm also Gold, but I doubt that has much to do with this.)
Any comments/advice out there?
