I had a world traveller plus ticket booked for last nights BA055 service to JNB on the A380 and the first nice surprise was that I got upgraded to Club. I don't want to complain but I was actually looking forward to see the new WTP cabin on the A380 and to sit on the upper deck. So far I have only been on a few LH A380 trips and they only have business class upstairs..
I sat in 13G which is downstairs on the aisle and was planning to go upstairs but it felt like this was not really possible. The cabin was nicely closed off by curtains on both ends so it looks like they dont really want passengers wonder around ?
The new entertainment system with the new screen is nice and one of the features I discovered was the chat system which would have allowed me to chat with other people on the plane. I was hoping to get my ipod connected and then maybe play my own music and videos but it seems that one needs to have a RGB cable for that which seems a bit odd to have these days.
What I found really strange were the toilets at the back of the club cabin since one could clearly hear what was happening in the toilet next to it. It even felt that one might be able to get a glimpse into the other toilet as the cracks/gap in the walls are not small. I cant remember having something on the 747 or another plane so this was definelty weired !
The food was good and I got a few hours rest. When departing it felt like they were waiting for the premium passengers to first leave the plane which was nice so I did not have 400 people in front of me at immigrations.
I am booked again on the A380 for my journey back in two weeks time and I would not mind flying in WTP this time to actually see the upper deck
