One of the things I enjoy about FT is that no matter how "specialized," you can almost always find some useful information here. Last night I realized that I had no earthly clue how one cleared immigrations and what not in getting back from YUL to USA, and I was fortunate to come upon this thread. It helped me a lot in timing things.

As things turned out today, it was an easy time to go through ... a Saturday afternoon. Lines were short. We have been spoiled by TSA Precheck and it was a bit of a drag removing a belt and all that but, honestly, the Canadian security screeners seemed no faster or slower, no more pleasant or indifferent, than the average screeners I get in the US. We had Global Entry and that helps afterward. A small thing I noticed that differs a bit from, say, PHL, is that the US immigration person who takes your printed ticket/receipt after Global Entry is not exactly "dedicated," by which I mean he (in this case) is being fed from the general line as well. So depending on how much that person wants to expedite (or not) the line-bypassing Global Entry folks, you can still stand a bit waiting to be called post-finger printing.
