The one thing to bear in mind is that this is super peak convention season. Should you be tempted to book late Sept/early Oct for example you would run into Oracle OpenWorld, when they shut down two or three blocks around Moscone Convention Center and room prices would make everyone but the wealthiest oil or tech magnate cry. Even now you can't book a Starwood property in downtown SF around that time for less than 550 a night (!). So make sure you have your preferred accommodation lined up for the trip before hitting the booking link or you could be in for a rude surprise.
