But the other 99,999 people who don't make $200,000 or more see my BMW, see my Rolex, see my trophy wife, see my business card, and they just want to die. It's not something I asked for, not something I wished for, but it happens and there's nothing I can do to stop it. So I sit back, consider their attention a 'bonus' and move on to doing a great job at work and making as much money as I can.

Sounds great. I assume this is a windup, but in case it isn't, just let me point out that people like you work for me. I don't own a car, a watch, a TV, or any other outward sign of wealth, except tailored suits and shoes, which I only wear when I have to. But in general it's pretty easy to tell I'm the boss, and that people like you aren't.
As for the subject of this thread, if you are looking to upgrade from Y+ to J, as has been mentioned many times, AA miles aren't going to help you. You'll need to accumulate Asiamiles.
I bank all transpac/Europe miles to AA (which I get to fly paid J) and the intra-Asia miles to MPC, where I have to travel economy in cheapest available which means the fare class may not be high enough to get AA miles. In the end, I attain AA EXP and CX Gold. I use the accumulated AA miles to fly Mrs. Pickles (which you may refer to as "Trophy Wife", "Empress", "Her Excellency", or "The Boss's Wife") around for free, and use the Asiamiles to upgrade myself to Y+ or J intra-Asia or to F long-haul.
One neat trick for accumulating boatloads of Asiamiles is the credit card bit. I have three cards, two personal and one corporate, feeding Asiamiles every month to the tune of 30-40K Asiamiles a month. So even though I am only CX Gold (and barely at that), I have enough Asiamiles bank to upgrade myself regularly.
