I am not sure what lounge rule change you are referring to there, but as a BA Gold you can use the Flagship lounge in LAX, JFK and ORD, Admirals club elsewhere, and from 31 March the US Airways lounge network too, so long as you have an AA flight (or indeed a US Airways flight). The Flagship lounges are good, the rest somewhat below BA's standards.
