But then again actually DCCing 500 companies is the place where it is OK. The accountants (of which I am one) simply tick off the local currency amount.
Sorry, I mean BoC Guangdong is a rogue branch, so St Regis Shenzhen has no say here. It is big, so I am a little bit shocked it doesn't have its way around. Usually (personal experience) big chains all know this DCC and will deal with it for you. Are you sure St. Regis Shenzhen really cannot turn it off? If so, I will stay away from it.
I have the same experience with front desk/bar. For example, Ritz Carlton financial street Beijing has BoC terminal for front desk, and BoCommunication terminals for restaurants and bars. The only one that Chase recognizes for 5X points is the front desk one which lables "Ritz Carlton Beijing". Others are all labeled something like "financial street holding development company". The front desk there told me Morgan Stanley (located next door) doesn't allow DCC, so they all know how to turn it off.
If the invoice say RMB 1000 (160.83 USD according to Visa), and your credit card charge is 168.87 (assume 5% DCC markup), your company doesn't have a problem with that? I thought there is no written evidence to support this DCC loss, you know...
