The Slow Death of QF77/78
As noted elsewhere PER-SIN is dying and the funeral is booked for next month.
However why are Qantas ensuring its death be as slow and painful as possible?
Having done this return yesterday attending a couple of hour meeting within the confines of the Qantas Lounge several things amazed me. Firstly the loads were poor (possibly why it is on he block) but so is the timing. The SQ morning flight arriving a coupl eof hours prior would be a better option for most travellers on an equal / better product.
Secondly, Qantas seem to need to change their approach to the exit rows.
On both legs I tried to secure exit rows and was unable to (on the way up all showing as full, on the way back showing as available but unable to process the request). Up there were a couple spare, back heading to the toilet after flight all were free, and within 5 minutes 4 had been taken by opportunist passengers.
Calling the 13 number the day before I asked to book one of the 4 showing available without the bulk head (AB/JK) and was told that they were all gone, despite me advising that they were showing available at online check in.
Having a full middle row to myself I was not as aggrieved as I may otherwise have been but why would Qantas not allow me to part with money on an empty chair?
The service was slow, the crew could be best described as D graders, it is a shame that the last act of Qantas abandoning PER internationally has been so painful
