You can do what you want, but I would strongly discourage you from continuing if you wear a uniform based on "a friend's" experience. "He" bought too many GCs from one BX and since "he" wasn't in uniform when "he" went, "he" always had to show the CAC and was reported to his commander for suspicious activity.
