I presume a child is being placed at the window seat, as the outside exit row seats have hardly any legroom thanks to the slide? I'd take any WT+ seat over any WT seat, if only for the shoulder width.

As to not being upgraded, show up in your smartest chinos and blazer, then ask if there is any chance of a more comfortable seat as it is your birthday/honeymoon. If they say no, ask DYKWIA?
