I've actually done this and it worked out great. A "staycation" with the honey. We stayed locally but near some good restaurants. If the property offers breakfast then there is another perk. Take the kids and find a property with an indoor pool. Steal the soaps at least.
No, Manhattan or central London ain't gonna happen with cat 4s, but if you keep your goals realistic, you can find use for them.
