cmcbugg, thanks for the taxi link!

LondonAndy, I’ll have to look in to ZipCar rates for London (if they differ from Toronto, which they likely do). I am a Car2go member, which is also in London, but only comes with 16 or 17 miles before you have to pay extra, it doesn’t seem feasible for my needs :/

Corpt, fairly young I suppose (32). Couldn’t run a marathon or anything, but more than capable of walking around. Visited Boston last year and walked almost everywhere. There is a fairly large second of London we were planning on just walking and not even bothering with the tube. Seemed to be about 2-3 hours of straight walking, no problem.

Stonehenge is on the list, which seems fairly remote. You guys are suggesting to not even drive to something like that?

I was considering staying at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel, which seems conveniently close to the train station to catch the Eurostar to Paris, and has an Avis location there. It’s really hard to gauge on a map, but is this area far enough outside of central London to rent a car to get out of the city?

Corpt, as someone who has been to NYC, your last sentence has made up my mind. I will likely take the tube into central London.

And LondonElite, fair points! I would still like to rent a car even if it’s just for one day, just for the thrill of driving on the opposite side of the road. This is part of the reason I have no intention of getting a car in Paris.

As for the movie, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. I’ll have to check it out before I go!

Just to add to this.. My wife is doing most of the “adventure” part. I’m more of the logistics guy. I believe outside of London she wanted to go to Nottingham, Dover, Bath, and I’m probably missing some other places.

Again, all of you have been invaluable. Words can’t express how helpful you have been!
