Yes, there are two types of persons, one likes the greetings and the other one just hates getting the attention. But saying that the ones who like it are like DYKWIA type of persons is a little bit stretched, isn't it?

I agree, it is a little surprising. Perhaps it's a hint of envy creeping in from those with a small willy?
I take the greetings as they are intended, I enjoy the interaction with crew and the greeting is often the catalyst for a good service and rapport with the crew. Why people have to jump in on these topics with such rude or impolite comments is peculiar, perhaps it stems fro a sense of being left out due to their own insecurities ... perhaps it's just plain old resentment?
