Due to "dumb" Verizon employees I unknowingly received a SIM that wasn't NFC compatible (was promised it was the correct one). After an hour or so on the phone with tech support I gave up and created a Serve account via their website. For giggles a few days later I went to another Verizon store and was given a correct, NFC compatible, SIM. I immediately called Serve and cancelled my account "because my phone was not compatible with ISIS." The next day I reapplied for Serve through ISIS (with my new SIM) but wasn't instantly approved. After calling customer service, I told them I had just upgraded phones and wanted to open a new account since ISIS was now an available option to me. They immediately approved my account and was granted access to the increased limits, including the $40 Verizon bonus.
I hadn't activated or used the previous account's card so can't speak to the cancel/reopen working for people with previous account activity.
FYI, the NFC SIM is completely white whereas the non-NFC version is half red and half white (at least for the micro-SIM).
Thanks for the info. You have to wait for your new card in the mail right?
