I made dozens of reservations last year when a low weekly rate glitch that AAA had was coming up nationwide (I posted it in this forum). I've still got upcoming reservations in April and May. If I did what you advocate, I'd lose that rate.
You misunderstand me. I meant if you're creating a new booking and the price is coming up lower than your existing reservation, you can often change car types and then change back to get your existing reservation to re-price lower. Certainly if the current price is higher, I wouldn't advocate doing this, since as you point out it would re-price at the current (higher) rate.
