As a lowly Bronze I book and pay extra for my no-stepover window seat way in advance and on a specific side of the aircraft for best views on landing.

I'd be unlikely to swap my seat for a couple - after all they'll spend the majority of their lifetime (in theory) with each other, so why the big deal about sitting apart for a few hours?

I would of course relent for a person with special needs , though in most cases BA would know in advance and eject me from the seat and I would hope refund my seat payment.
