This has always been my belief about the explanation behind people seen with more bags than allowed. If I
had a DW, girlfriend or my elderly father traveling with me, even if my companion was not handicapped, I would probably help them with their bags just to be a gentleman.
Personally, I always carry a CPAP. Rare is the occasion that I am not questioned at the door about why I have three bags. People bringing more than the 2 bags allowed on board are NOT a problem that needs to be addressed unless it is at the individual GA level.
