For me it is primarily about comfort. However, the lounge privileges are very nice, as are the RUs and standby upgrades.
While I have no issue flying economy domestically (I'm based in the States), I have no desire to fly economy across an ocean ever again. I'm wiling to pay extra for premium economy or business (or at least use upgrades to avoid economy).
