I know that many people rave about ANA First (which I look forward to reading btw) but for some reason I am a lot more appealed by their staggered Business Class on the 77W, hence it being high on my list of products to try. How far in advance did you have to book to find a seat?

Looking forward to the rest.
Didn't want to address it in the last post where it would get buried in the photos and stuff.

You know...I kind of agree with you on this. Again I know how lucky I was being able to fly the First Square on ANA. This was an award trip so it cost me about $100. However, I do at times pay out of my pocket for J on some of my flights and I would happily book a paid NH J trip again. The service was just as good between F/J...I loved the seat and layout in J. Actually the tray table in J I liked better, it was easier to push out to a comfortable position, the way that the F one swings out it felt like it was always wanting to sit right up against me instead of a few inches out.
So if I were on these flights again I would be totally content sitting in J staggered NH...unlike say maybe having flown LH F where you have the separate bed and then having to sit in LH J with an angle flat.

I booked these trips at the end of June. From what I can remember I believe I could have flown direct NRT-JFK in J on the MP award but I wanted to try F as well so I went for what was originally NRT-ORD-LGA. But, then a few months ago when I realized I wanted to come back home and surprise my Mom I couldn't find space to fly from NRT-SFO/LAX so I kept the NRT-ORD F and then did the bookings myself to fly ORD-LAX-MRY-SFO-JFK.
