I stayed in the Shangri La for five days this fall and the location is not that distant. A short walk down the Avenue President Wilson brings you to the Pont Alma which is a block or two from where the Plaza Athenee and George V are. Or you can cross to the 7th. And I really liked the hotel which I felt offered the exact right combination of Parisian charm and modern amenities. The pool is gorgeous and those views of the Eiffel Tower cannot be beat.
