Perhaps coincidence. But given how many other facts have turned out not to be facts, and the varying times given for the last ping*, I'm not 100% sure that it is a coincidence.

*now 0811 MYT or almost 7 hours after radio contact was lost but previously given as 4 hours and I've seen recent reports of 10 minutes, 1 hour, 90 minutes and 5 hours also.

As has been the case all week, some information given to the public conflicts with other information given to the public.
