But one thing that puzzles me is the mega disparity between $1000 plus for the two one way fares combined and the $206 RT for the same schedule on ATL-DFW. This kind of disparity was rare even in the bad old days. The AirTran downsizing effect alone does not explain this because I have flown one way segments between cities not served by direct flights on LCCs where the legacy carrier had the best one way fare which was clearly not more than the RT fare.
