Based on the reply the OP received from BA and the fact that they have already conducted an internal investigation, if I were the OP, I'd forget seeking any further recourse or reply and move on.

If I have the slightest suspicion that I contributed to the situation, then there is no way I would keep chasing it and see it as something I largely or partially inflicted upon myself.
